When my wife Paula and I first moved out to Boston two and a half years ago we each picked out a kitten from a local animal shelter. Paula picked Simone and I picked J.P., and, no, I’m not particularly fond of either of their philosophical counterparts (although I must say I did enjoy Sartre’s Nausea).
